We’re looking for a Senior Consumer Communications Manager to join Deliveroo’s high-performing global communications team for a 12-month maternity cover, starting in September 2025.
Our communications team is a vital part of our business. It's our job to effectively communicate the positive impact Deliveroo is having for customers, restaurants and riders, whether that’s by offering riders flexible, on-demand work, helping restaurants to grow their businesses through online delivery or by providing consumers with exciting new food experiences. When you work in consumer communications at Deliveroo, you'll be at the forefront of defining how consumers think and feel about our brand. On a national and local level, we lead campaigns, stunts and stories that help us connect with customers and land Deliveroo in cultural conversation.
You’ll lead work that gets people talking about Deliveroo, whether it’s hijacking a cultural moment, activating a fun delivery stunt, launching an exciting new partnership or leveraging data and insights into press gold. No two days are the same.
We’re looking for a creative thinker who can balance strategic planning with exceptional execution – someone with sharp media instincts, who can lead and inspire our UK & Ireland agency partners, manage stakeholders, and bring ideas to life in a fast-moving environment.
You’ll report to the Head of Consumer Communications UK & Ireland and work closely with Deliveroo’s social media team to ensure all activity is amplified in a social-first way. You’ll also work closely with the UK marketing team to ensure our activity supports strategic marketing objectives and initiatives, as well as regional commercial teams to help them achieve their goals.
What you’ll be doing:
You'll devise, manage, and own high-impact PR campaigns for the UK and Irish market. These campaigns will aim for high-quality coverage in top-tier media and will be activated both in-house and by our PR agencies.
You'll generate and implement a quarterly programme of creative ideas, ensuring they align with our marketing and business priorities.
Ownership of our local PR programme, working with local teams to drive positive news coverage in priority UK towns and cities.
You'll expertly manage stakeholders. This includes internal cross-functional teams and partners in our restaurant, grocery, and retail verticals.
Proactively sharing newsjacking ideas and activating them to drive positive coverage.
Compiling high-quality media materials, including press releases, campaign plans, idea pitches, briefing documents, reactive statements, etc.
Day-to-day management and leadership of our PR agencies, ensuring deadlines are met, KPIs are achieved, and work is of the highest creative quality.
Closely managing activity budgets and raising and processing POs for suppliers.
Attending and arranging photoshoots, delivering high-quality assets that will make our stories fly.
Fostering strong national, consumer and local press contacts and attending regular media meets.
You'll be intellectually curious and honest. You'll also have the ability to scrutinise campaign effectiveness and use these learnings for future projects.
Working with internal stakeholders, you will;
Collaborate with brand social to come up with creative ideas and strategies to amplify PR activity via owned and influencer channels.
Build strong relationships with legal to ensure our activity is compliant and problem solve alongside them where required.
Work closely with the UK marketing/rider/restaurant/product/Editions teams to align PR activity with their goals and stretch our ideas both on and off platform, whether it's getting a PR campaign included in CRM or in-app or launching exciting limited-edition products via Editions or HOP.
Aligning with the wider team (corp/PA/stakeholder) on activities and timing, identifying opportunities for further engagement.
What we’re looking for:
Must haves
Experience in a comms role, either agency (Account Director level) or in-house.
Outstanding organisational ability and project management skills with an ability to work autonomously.
You're a self-starter, comfortable with constant change. You're also unafraid to seek direction on what to do next and how to accomplish it.
Ability to identify potential problems and issues to be solved, and propose solutions to them.
Flawless written English.
Strong consumer and national media contacts, with excellent media relationships.
Thrives in a fast-paced, growth environment.
Nice-to-haves
Experience of working in a PR agency
Experience in managing agencies from an in-house position
Experience in working at a start-up or high-growth business
Experience in developing brand visibility across social media channels
