It's an exciting time to join, and while we have made great progress, we are just getting started! This role will be based in our main office in Dubai, where we operate in a hybrid model.
The Role
The Senior Category Manager is at the heart of ensuring we have a strong customer value proposition across Deliveroo’s New Verticals business in the UAE. Collaborating with a remote team, your mission will be to drive the growth of onboarded partners on our platform through initiatives focused on four key pillars: promotions, pricing, product range, and merchandising. You will have full ownership of these projects. You will work cross-functionally across teams both locally and centrally, to develop top-notch tools and processes to ensure that our menus and pricing are the most compelling in the region and to ensure smooth execution of your strategy. You will set strategic guardrails and requirements and work with the local teams to localise these structures to suit the UAE market and its partners. You will also build competitor benchmarking capabilities and communicate recommendations to partners and senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
Own and drive the category strategy in the UAE, with a clear focus on improving conversion and growth through pricing, promotions, assortment, and merchandising
Identify and close conversion gaps using sales data, catalog analysis, and customer behavior insights
Localize and implement global frameworks in collaboration with central Category, Pricing, and Product teams
Act as the category management expert for the UAE, supporting internal teams and external partners
Improve in-app experience by optimizing product categorization, placement, and search visibility
Build and maintain competitor benchmarking tools to track pricing, assortment, and value
Localize pricing tools, embed regular price checks, and support price/value improvements
Lead local partnerships with data providers and integrate insights into decision-making
Communicate recommendations to partners and senior leadership
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent industry experience
Strong understanding of the 4Ps of Category Management (product, price, placement, and promotions)
Experience as a Category Manager or related experience in FMCG or the grocery marketplace is essential
Experience in delivering recommendations from data analysis
Experience presenting to senior stakeholders and owning outcomes
Experience influencing in a matrix organisation
Experience working cross-functionally to deliver projects at scale
Experience working with external data providers such as Nielsen, Circana, Kantar, etc. is a plus
SQL knowledge is a plus
Resourceful, action-oriented, and detail-oriented, with a high ownership mindset to deliver measurable impact
Start-up mentality with a love for both getting deep in the detail and driving top-level strategy
