About the Team
It’s an exciting time to join our rapidly growing Tax team and be a part of the fast growth the Company is experiencing, particularly becoming part of the global DoorDash/Wolt/Deliveroo businesses, with new product initiatives and jurisdictional growth! The Tax team is heavily involved in the operations of the business that impact Couriers, Merchants and Customers. As a key partner to the business, we are involved at the front end on plans for new products and country expansions as well as the sales and onboarding process with new Merchants. As our global business continues to expand our products and services and global footprint, partnering with the business teams to bring tax awareness for such initiatives continues to grow in importance.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to join the newly integrated DoorDash Non US International tax function, bringing together Deliveroo’s and Wolt’s existing tax capabilities into one high-performing global team. We employ a one-team approach, so you will be working closely with internal and external tax resources in Finland, the US, and other international jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working collaboratively with broader business organizations, effectively identifying and communicating complex tax topics to Executives that affect global businesses. We are looking for someone that can bring diverse perspectives and experiences. While technical and research abilities are critical, we are seeking an individual that can problem solve and collaborate within a matrixed environment. You will lead Deliveroo’s UK-based Direct Tax team and play a critical role in developing and managing best-in-class effective and efficient tax reporting, compliance, controversy and planning functions, managing relationships with HMRC and other tax authorities, driving direct tax planning for Deliveroo markets while collaborating with the global DoorDash/Wolt tax teams under a “one-team” concept on global tax initiatives.
This position will combine hands-on technical excellence with leadership and stakeholder management in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment. What You’ll Be Doing
Team leadership: Lead, manage, and develop Deliveroo’s UK-based Direct Tax team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
Compliance & reporting: Oversee direct tax compliance and reporting for Deliveroo entities, including responsibility for final sign-offs.
Tax authority relationships: Act as the primary point of contact with HMRC and other relevant tax authorities, managing audits and building trusted relationships.
Planning & advisory: Drive tax planning initiatives across Deliveroo markets and serve as a thought partner to the wider DoorDash, Wolt Tax team.
Partner with members of the world-wide tax team on global tax initiatives, including US SEC reporting, planning strategies, and controversy management.
Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Finance, Legal, and other business functions to provide clear, pragmatic tax input on business initiatives and be willing to iterate...
Process improvement: Continuously enhance tax processes and controls, identifying opportunities for efficiency and risk management, including through use of technology incl AI.
Requirements
Significant experience in a global accounting/tax firm and multinational corporate environment leading teams of tax professionals.
University degree, CTA, ACA or equivalent professional qualification.
Significant experience in direct and international tax, with strong UK corporate tax expertise.
Proven ability to manage relationships with HMRC and international tax authorities.
Demonstrated experience in managing tax compliance, reporting, and planning in a multinational environment.
Strong leadership skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; able to influence and build consensus across global functions.
Strategic mindset with strong business acumen and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach.
Curiosity, adaptability, and comfort working in a fast-paced tech scale-up environment.
Strong attention to detail and analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and can motivate people at all levels across a variety of job responsibilities.
