Why Deliveroo?
Deliveroo’s mission is to transform the way you shop and eat, bringing the neighbourhood to your door by connecting consumers, restaurants, shops and riders. We obsess about building the future of food, whilst using our network as a force for good. We're at the forefront of an industry, powered by our market-leading technology and unrivalled network to bring incredible convenience and selection to our customers.
Working at Deliveroo is the perfect environment to build an engineering career, driven by impact. Firstly, the impact that working here will have on your development, allowing you to grow faster than you might elsewhere; secondly, the impact that you can have on Deliveroo, leaving your mark as we scale; and finally, being part of something bigger, through the impact that we make together in our marketplace and communities.
The Role
As part of the Analytics Engineering team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and running Deliveroo’s data and analytics platforms. Your focus will be on ensuring our BI solutions empower analysts, data scientists, engineers, and business teams to work faster, smarter, and with greater impact.
Your initial priority will be the ongoing development and optimisation of our Looker platform. From there, you’ll contribute to shaping our wider BI strategy, exploring and adopting emerging technologies such as conversational analytics, AI-powered insights, and tools that enhance data discovery, literacy, and overall governance.
However, as an Analytics Platform Engineer, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute across the wider data platform. This may involve designing and maintaining infrastructure, working on our low-latency data pipelines, building automated solutions, and contributing to technical design discussions and reviews — all while broadening your engineering skill set and collaborating closely with colleagues across the team.
This is a hands-on engineering role, with a blend of technical delivery, platform ownership, and user enablement. Success means creating a reliable, high-performing, and forward-looking BI ecosystem that helps everyone at Deliveroo unlock the full potential of our data.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, enhance, and optimise BI platforms, with an immediate focus on Looker
Own system administration, configuration, and performance monitoring to ensure resilience and scalability
Support users with technical troubleshooting, enablement, and best practices for self-service analytics
Contribute to the evolution of our BI strategy, adopting innovative AI-driven tools to improve decision-making and data accessibility
Partner with analysts, analytics engineers, and data scientists to understand their needs and deliver impactful platform solutions
Contribute to the wider engineering function through technical design reviews, peer code reviews, and knowledge sharing, collaborating globally with teams across Deliveroo, DoorDash, and Wolt to define shared data standards and evolve our platform architecture.
Skillset
We want to emphasise that we don’t expect you to meet all of the below but we would love for you to have experience in some of the following areas:
Extensive experience with BI platforms (Looker desirable, but not essential if transferable)
Technical skills in areas such as SQL, Python, data modelling, and platform administration
A user-first mindset: motivated by enabling others to be more effective with data
Curiosity and adaptability, with a passion for exploring new technologies including AI-powered analytics
A collaborative approach and the ability to work across diverse teams with varying data needs
Expertise in modern, agile software development processes
Workplace & Benefits
At Deliveroo we know that people are the heart of the business and we prioritise their welfare. Benefits differ by country, but we offer many benefits in areas including healthcare, well-being, parental leave, pensions, and generous annual leave allowances, including time off to support a charitable cause of your choice. Benefits are country-specific, please ask your recruiter for more information.
Diversity
We believe a great workplace is one that represents the world we live in and how beautifully diverse it can be. That means we have no judgement when it comes to any one of the things that make you who you are - your gender, race, sexuality, religion or a secret aversion to coriander. All you need is a passion for (most) food and a desire to be part of one of the fastest growing start-ups around.
