About the role
The Marketing Director role at Deliveroo offers a thrilling opportunity to spearhead marketing efforts in France, one of our largest and rapidly growing markets. Reporting directly to the General Manager of France, you will have full ownership of the marketing function, which is crucial for driving business growth in the French market.
As a key member of the French GM’s leadership team, you will contribute to strategic business decisions and help steer the overall direction for France. This role involves leading the largest international marketing team at Deliveroo, making you the most senior Marketing Director on an international scale.
You will be responsible for driving the French consumer to love our brand and use our online platform to order from the best restaurants and groceries to be delivered to their homes and offices, helping us to become a household name in France.
Your role will include the following:
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the overall strategic direction for France as part of the Leadership team. Collaborate with the General Manager to leverage market data, customer segmentation, and competitive analysis to define a compelling value proposition.
- Marketing Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to acquire, grow, and retain consumers. Focus on driving brand preference, traffic, conversion, and retention through effective promotional strategies and local loyalty programs.
- Budget and Target Management: Own the local loyalty strategy, targets, budget and execution, maintaining an agile and data-driven mindset to adjust strategies as needed. Embrace a test-and-learn approach to demonstrate the ROI of marketing spend and optimize the local marketing budget.
- Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing local marketing team. Nurture talent, recognize strengths and development opportunities, and support pathways to growth. Provide daily guidance and motivation to the team.
- Growth Monitoring and Innovation: Monitor business growth and consumer indicators, recognizing trends and troubleshooting issues. Proactively identify opportunities to accelerate growth and think innovatively to overcome growth-limiting challenges.
Integrated Campaign Execution: Deliver integrated, 360-degree marketing campaigns. Localize and execute marketing strategies in collaboration with country management, Global Marketing, and central teams to achieve commercial targets.
- Customer Advocacy: Champion the local customer while working collaboratively with local country management and HQ teams to ensure alignment and drive growth in France.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Commercial, Operations, and Customer Care to grow lead acquisition and design programs for new and expansion opportunities. Collaborate with UK-based central teams, product, data science, sales, and creative studio to produce relevant content.
What you’ll need to thrive in this role:
We are looking for a Marketing leader with over 12 years of experience, extending to 15 years or more, scaling, both online and offline in a hyper growth consumer-focused technology company.
You’ll also need to have:
- Previous experience as Marketing Director and ideally experience in:
- A growing B2C tech business
- Consumer / FMCG industries
- Digital/ platform business
- Food / Hospitality
- Fluent English/ French language skills
- Exceptional Analytical and Organizational Skills: Develop dashboards and optimize multiple KPIs across various platforms to enhance decision-making. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and an operational mindset to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while effectively dealing with ambiguity. Influence decision-making at all levels of the organization, even without formal authority.
- 360-degree marketing fluency across the full mix in a B2C environment- online/offline, digital/ traditional, direct marketing, brand, TV/radio, brand building/direct
- Brand Building Toolkit: Design and implement a toolkit to enhance creativity and support the creation of marketing campaigns that engage France's diverse customer base with cultural relevance
- Experience in leading and developing high-performing teams
- Experience in a top-performing consumer oriented company a plus
- Ability to negotiate deals and terms with solution or media partners to maximise visibility, cost of acquisition and ROI
