This is a 12-month fixed-term role, ideally starting in April 2025. As the Director of Finance and Strategy, you will report to the VP of Finance and Strategy and be based in our Milan offices.
What you'll do:
- Strategic Partnership: Provide financial and strategic partnership to the General Manager, Italy, to help set the strategic direction and drive commercial and financial outcomes.
- Financial Leadership: Take accountability for the Italy country P&L and lead a finance and strategy team of four people.
- Analytical Insight: Lead your team to provide proactive, insightful, high-quality analysis and recommendations to support decision-making in the context of wider business implications.
- Planning and Forecasting: Lead various planning and forecasting cycles, including annual planning, quarterly/monthly/weekly outlooks, and long-range plans.
- Strategic Initiatives: Identify, model, and action appropriate strategic initiatives and support (and in some cases drive) execution.
- Performance Analysis: Understand and influence the underlying performance drivers to help drive long-term financial results.
- Opportunity Identification: Leverage your commercial experience to identify opportunities of strategic interest and frame approaches to tackle them.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure linkage to central functions in the execution of country initiatives, deployment of new products/capabilities, and alignment with company-wide missions within a matrix organisation.
- Investment Decisions: Drive investment decisions and key resource allocation discussions, including ROI-based economic trade-offs.
- Metrics and Reporting: Establish and maintain key metrics and reporting to provide insights into business performance.
- Team Development: Build, support, and coach a world-class finance and strategy team and build links and contributions to the Global Finance team.
What we're looking for:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience, with at least 5+ years at a senior level, leading teams and working with executive stakeholders.
- Skills: Commercially focused, strong analytical skills, and clear communication abilities.
- Stakeholder Management: Successful track record of operating, partnering with, and influencing executive-level stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Excel at solving unstructured problems.
- Project Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional projects without authority.
- Adaptability: Experience operating and succeeding within a fast-paced environment.
- Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred, but not required:
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the restaurant industry or customer-obsessed marketplace businesses.
- Education: MBA, Chartered Accountant Qualification, or similar credentials.
